Strategy and execution for impatient leaders

Today's problems, tomorrow's tools.

I'm Harrison. I embed with leaders to turn questions into decisions. Into shipped work.

I'm the operator who

  • I'm the operator who moved a county government from 10mph to 40mph.
  • I'm the operator who turned a $50K pilot into a 99K program the board approved.
  • I'm the operator who answered a founder's 00M question in four weeks.
  • I'm the operator who built the model that got a CEO through her first confident board meeting.
  • I'm the operator who has had every single client come back for more.

01 / Problem

The decision is the easy part.

The strategy is usually sound. What breaks is everything after the decision: who owns it, how fast it moves, and how much of it survives the next sixty days.

Everything is important, so nothing moves.

Priorities collide, the list keeps growing, and the thing that actually matters slips another week.

Decisions sit in limbo.

Nobody owns the call, the tradeoff, or the follow-up, so the meeting keeps happening.

The work scatters.

It lives across tools, threads, and half-updated docs until the thread is gone entirely.

Outside help leaves you holding the bag.

They interview everyone, write a deck, and disappear. You still have to do the work.

Lots of motion. Not enough progress. The distance between what you decided and what actually shipped keeps growing.

02 / Offerings

Four ways in. Pick the one that matches your moment.

Every engagement starts the same way: name the decision, name the owner, name the date. What changes is how long I stay.

Clarity in hours

The Working Session

Turn months of circling into decisions in a single day.

I interview your stakeholders, design the room, run the day, and hand you a memo with decisions, owners, and deadlines before anyone forgets what was agreed. Two weeks later I check whether it stuck.

This is for you ifyour leadership team has had the same conversation three times.

  • Pre-session stakeholder interviews and a custom-built agenda
  • Half-day or full-day live facilitation with real-time decision capture
  • Post-session memo and a two-week accountability check-in

Shapeone to two weeks of prep, a half day or full day in the room, one follow-up.

Answers in days

The Strategic Sprint

One question that matters. One clear, defensible answer.

You have a question that's too important to get wrong and too urgent to argue about for another quarter. I take it on, go deep, and come back with options, tradeoffs, and a recommendation your team can act on the week I deliver.

This is for you ifthe decision is too big to get wrong and you need it settled in weeks.

  • Primary and secondary research, competitive positioning, market sizing
  • Financial modeling, scenario and sensitivity analysis, business case
  • Board-ready presentation and a strategic options memo you can forward

Shapefour to eight weeks, mostly remote, one or two sessions on site.

Results in weeks

The Embedded Partnership

A senior operator in your room, driving your biggest initiative.

I work inside your team for months at a time. I sit in the meetings where the real constraints show up, build the actual deliverables, chase the loose ends, and present to your board when it's time. Then I hand you something your team can run without me.

This is for you ifthe initiative is too important to delegate and you don't have six months to hire for it.

  • Initiative scoping, workstream management, stakeholder coordination
  • Hands-on building: the model, the plan, the governance, the dashboard
  • Weekly progress reporting, board communications, capability transfer

Shapethree to six months, on site one to two days a week.

Support for months

The Advisory Retainer

The engagement ends. The relationship doesn't.

Quarterly strategic reviews plus on-call access for a leader who still wants a sounding board who already knows the business, the politics, and the history.

This is for you ifwe've worked together and you'd rather not re-explain your company to anyone ever again.

  • Quarterly half-day strategic review, fully prepped
  • On-call access with a 24-hour response, two working sessions a quarter
  • Priority scheduling and first call on my calendar for new work

Shapeongoing, on a quarterly rhythm, remote.

How the work actually goes

I run the same discipline whether I'm with you for two days or six months. The engagement ends with a clean close and a team that can carry it.

Every engagement is scoped to the decision at stake. Tell me what you're facing and I'll tell you what it takes.

03 / Results

The receipts.

Every client has come back for more. Here's some of what that looked like.

Government

A county government, moving at startup speed

A California county of roughly 260,000 residents had a web strategy stuck in committee. I embedded for six months, built the governance framework, stood up a content network across six departments in 48 hours, and got a public, measurable target adopted: move the "I found what I was looking for" rate from 23% to 50%. I now lead department website modernization countywide.

6 departments activated in 48 hours

Healthcare

Ten iterations to a business case that holds

A health system planning two new women's health centers needed four-wall pro formas that would survive finance review. Ten-plus iteration cycles later, the model caught two assumption errors large enough to change whether either site penciled, including a cost-per-case figure off by a factor of three. Delivered under a partner firm's brand with zero client friction.

25+ assumption gaps caught before finance saw them

Startup

The 00M question, answered in four weeks

A health tech company needed to know which market to enter before committing its next raise. Seven categories researched across roughly 110 companies in three and a half weeks, narrowed to three markets with real sizing, a pricing architecture, and year-one KPIs the team is now running against. They came back for phase two.

110 companies, 3.5 weeks, 1 clear answer

Startup

A CEO's first confident board meeting

A digital health founder was walking into board meetings without a model he trusted. I rebuilt the unit economics from rate-led to margin-led, built a three-year model and a KPI framework, and put the board deck together in ninety minutes. The model is still in use.

Still running, a year later

Government

A $50K pilot that became a 99K program

A county workflow automation pilot needed a business case to survive board approval. I ran the department-by-department analysis that quantified 6,000 avoidable hours a year in one department alone, then took the vendor through the full privacy and security questionnaire line by line to close the cybersecurity gate.

$249K approved, cumulative

Health systems, county government, venture-backed startups, and the firms that serve them. Every one of them called back.

04 / About Me

How I got here and why I work this way.

I trained at McKinsey, where I learned how to structure a problem and how a deck can be beautiful and useless at the same time. I was Chief of Staff at Redesign Health, where I learned what it costs to actually build a company rather than advise one. I studied stem cell biology at Harvard, which is a strange path to strategy and a very good one for learning to sit with a hard problem until it gives.

Then I watched the same movie enough times. A leadership team wants change. A firm shows up, interviews everyone, produces a thick report. For a week the organization feels hopeful. Then the report joins the pile of important things we'll revisit.

So I work differently. I join your rhythm. I sit in the meetings where the real constraints show up. I build the model, the plan, the deck, the dashboard, with my own hands. I use AI-built workflows to do the research and production a junior team would take a month on, which is how one person delivers what a firm staffs five people for. The judgment is mine. Every deliverable is one I can defend in your boardroom, because I'll be the one standing there.

One phone number

You work with me. There is no associate, no ramp-up, no re-explaining your business every six weeks.

Senior enough for the board, scrappy enough for the spreadsheet

I'll present to your supervisors in the morning and rebuild the model that afternoon.

A fraction of the firm cost

Comparable work at 20% to 50% of what a traditional firm charges, because there's no pyramid to feed.

Built to outlast me

You keep the models, the frameworks, and the operating rhythm. The goal is a team that runs it without me.

  • Plain clarity
  • Bias to action
  • Side by side
  • Respect for context
  • Low ego, high follow-through

05 / Let's Talk

Tell me what you're stuck on.

Send me the thing that's been sitting on your list. I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person for it or who else is.
